Michael Lacey Freeman has been working in the field of ELT for over thirty years both as a teacher and a materials writer, and music has always played an important part in his work. He has been involved in the writing of a number of course books in collaboration with Oxford University Press and other major publishers and has also written 15 graded reader stories, five of which have won international awards. He is also a musician and writes and performs songs that he uses inside and outside class in presentations and webinars. One of his songs, Across the Sky, made with his band The Storytellers was used extensively around the world to engage and empower students who were confined to their homes during COVID.
