The Phoenix Kiln Still Leaf Jian Zhan is a dragon-kiln wood-fired series created within the traditional Jian ware system, distinguished by the transformation of real fallen leaves under extreme high-temperature firing.

Unlike leaf-impressed ceramics made outside the Jian tradition, this series is produced using iron-rich native Jian clay and mineral glaze, fired to approximately 1350°C. At this temperature, the interaction between leaf, glaze, and iron-rich body differs fundamentally from lower-temperature leaf wares.

Real natural leaves are used in the firing process—never printed paper or artificial substitutes. During prolonged wood firing, the leaf is fully consumed, leaving behind vein structures formed by molten glaze movement, wood ash, and kiln atmosphere rather than surface imprinting.

The resulting leaf patterns are integrated within the glaze layer itself, often accompanied by fine crackling that follows the organic structure. Each piece is individually wood-fired and inherently unrepeatable due to the variability of materials and kiln conditions.
