On this episode of Data Defender I want to
talk about when you purchase the product protecting
your customer data. So Ariel,
when you provide a service for the
customer at the end of the service how
do you go about collecting
the monies? Let's just start with the
credit card because cash is easy
and cash is lovely.
So my primary use for my clientele
is going to be Square App. So the Square
is an app and it also comes with
tools to where you can insert your card
if you have a chip
or you can just swipe. Now what I will
say about Square is that it does send you a
receipt after every transaction. So you'll
receive your receipt
and it also blocks out your information.
So if I go back, let's say that it didn't
send you a receipt for some odd reason
I can go back to your transaction and I
can issue you a receipt from that
transaction. Say you're at home
I can send it be a text or email days
later because
the transaction is still going to be...
all the information is
still in my phone from my Square App but
it clears out any information from
your card so i don't know the card
number or anything. So it's safe on that end.
Okay good. So it's only collecting the
data you need to get
payment and that's important because
organizations and customers don't want
to give extra data, data that's not
needed necessarily and that also
protects us. Also on the customer and the
customer also has to make sure that their credit
card is secure either with
changing their password regularly or
creating complex passwords which we
talked about on one of the episodes of
Data Defender and keeping their credit card secure
on them and like you if you use Square
it's always in your possession. You
you've never put it out and just left it
somewhere. So those are extra added
areas of security that we have responsibility
for.
