The Incredible Laocoön Group, The Greatest Sculpture in the Vatican.

He is being punished, rather severely I would say, but we are not sure why. At some point in the Trojan War, the Greek left. It looked like they had finally given up after ten years of fighting. All they left behind was this wooden horse… Not everyone wanted to bring it into the city. The priest Laocoön said that he mistrusted the Greek, even when they came bearing gifts. He tried to destroy the horse and later that day, as he was sacrificing to the gods, he and his two sons were attacked and strangled by snakes. This incredible sculpture was likely owned by several emperors before it was lost. It was found again in 1506, restored and placed in what is now the Vatican Museums.
