Celebrating Abheri

Ragam Abheri, also known as Bhimpalasi in the Hindustani equivalent is a Janya of the 22nd Melakarta ragam Kharaharapriya.

The charm and multiple facets of Abheri is portrayed by artistes Madhuri Kaushik and Prithvi Harish in the following Medley.

They explore and lure into the different emotions of rakthi, grandeur, tranquility and lilting happiness by stitching together multiple compositions and a stream of chitteswarams.
An interesting aspect of Carnatic classical music ‘The Grahabedham’ is also explored by the artists as they forge into ragam Mohanakalyani from the 3rd note (Gandharam) of Abheri.

Multiple composers, talas and languages have come together through small bits of different compositions, woven together into a single beautiful piece.
