This Christmas (Sax Cover Ikechi Onyenaka)

My sax cover of This Christmas by Donny Hathaway (Chris Brown This Christmas). This concert took place at the NBC 10 Philadelphia Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest Tree Lighting in Penn's Landing Philadelphia Pa on Friday, December 6th, 2024.

*Due to the weather being below 40-30 degrees Fahrenheit, there were some inconsistencies in my saxophones intonation at times.

"This Christmas" is a song by American soul musician Donny Hathaway released in 1970 by Atco Records. The song gained renewed popularity when it was included in 1991 on Atco Records' revised edition of their 1968 Soul Christmas compilation album and has since become a modern Christmas standard, with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers reporting that it was the 30th most-performed holiday song of all time.

Phil Upchurch said the song was "absolutely the premiere holiday song written by an African American". It was written by Hathaway and Nadine McKinnor.

This Christmas is a 2007 American Christmas comedy drama film produced by Rainforest Films and distributed by Screen Gems. Written, produced, and directed by Preston A. Whitmore II, it is a Christmas-time story that centers on the Whitfield family, whose eldest has come home for the first time in four years. The film is named after the 1970 Donny Hathaway song of the same name, which Chris Brown covers in the film. The Whitfield family overcomes many trials and obstacles during the Christmas season. The film was released in theaters November 21, 2007.
