Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common autoimmune neurological disorder currently afflicting more than 1 million Americans. The disease begins early in life and typically manifests as intermittent periods of remission and relapse. Symptoms of MS - numbness, weakness, and vision problems – result from loss of insulation of the axons of nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.
