Leaving Uluru and Kata Tjuta we continue on our four month trip south along the Stuart Highway toward Port Augusta.
After the tight camp spot at Yulara we truely enjoy getting back to free camping with plenty of space, sunsets/sunrises and surprise visits from some wild animals.
First free camp is Agnes Creek and while there is nothing here but red dirt, a big open sky and flies we welcome the freedom to stretch out.
Along the way we stop at #cooberpedy to do some shopping and then find our favourite free camp at Ingomar Rest Area. Overlooking the #breakaways we watch a spectacular sunrise while a mob of emus wonder past.
The following day we stop at #lakehart and have a good look around. This free camp would be great at sunset or sunrise but sadly it was too early in the day and we keep moving. Definitely one to put on the list for next time.
Woomera is just a quick turn off along the highway and we enjoy discovering rockets, missiles, planes and history in this 1950's town.
We find it a little more difficult on the fourth night with two of the preferred rest areas not being suitable for camping. Eventually we back track, find a trail and spend another peaceful night in the Australian Bush. Lots of animal tracks are around but sadly they stay hidden.
