How to get a 7/7 on your Math HL IA Analysis and Approaches

Описание к видео How to get a 7/7 on your Math HL IA Analysis and Approaches

Heyyy,
I made this video many moons ago, but after watching it a year later, I thought it had some good advice. If you're a rising senior, it is a VERY GOOD IDEA to get a head start on your IA's over the summer.

Anywayyyy, I wanted to give a small disclaimer. If anything in this video contradicts any advice or instructions given by your teacher (or the IB) please listen to your teacher, not me.

BIGGEST TAKEAWAYSS:

Read the rubric and know exactly what is expected: http://mrsmithsibwebsite.weebly.com/upload...

Choosing a topic: USE YOUR TEXTBOOK. The word problems show you how to apply the math you are learning and are basically like mini IA's. You can also look up how your interests relate to math (music, dance, social media, baking....). If you are passionate about your topic, it will make writing the IA more bearable.

Best HL topic (in my opinion): DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS! Your topic has to be HL or beyond. In Analysis and Approaches, DE's are HL and they have so many real world applications (especially in the natural sciences). Since I love bio and pharmaceutics, my IA was about a biological application of diff eq's. In the IB there are three types of first order DE's you need to know: ones where you use integrating factor method (this is the one I did), separable, and homogenous. If you haven't got to DE's yet but have done integration, it is worth learning them if you find a really cool IA idea.

I mentioned a word problem that talked about water draining from a tank. Here is a video that could help you:    • Time For Fluid To Drain From Tank (Ap...
