Описание к видео Savor the Flavor of Asian Indian and Creole Food

We decided to eat at restaurants that use similar ingredients considered part of Asian, CREOLE (African, Caribbean, English, French, Irish, Italian, and Spanish), and Indian cuisine.

My Hindu older brother lived in South India studying under a guru and saw the poverty there... NO WONDER PEOPLE FLEE TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

We are members of SLOW FOOD USA and SLOW FOOD INTERNATIONAL, founded in ROME, ITALY, in 1989—focusing on fair, equitable, and SUSTAINABLE food available to All.

Discover the similarities between Caribbean and Indian roti bread, curries, and the common use of ingredients such as cumin, coriander, turmeric, ginger, garlic, and chili powder… Nepali and Indian food share many similarities... For instance, in Western India, and Bangladesh, you will find MOMO on menus in homes of Bengalis and in restaurants…

We launched this YouTube channel to share the HISTORY of culture and cuisine—as well as the best cheap eats, cooking, fine dining, recipes, and travel.

BRITISH CROWN RULE AND EAST INDIA COMPANY (EIC)

British Lord Cromwell began expelling Irish minorities from the United Kingdom to the Caribbean islands in the 1600s… The British East India Company (EIC) brought African and Chinese slaves to the Caribbean islands and the INDIAN subcontinent… The Chinese slaves worked in the British OPIUM fields in India. The British exported opium to China and the population there.

The British East India Company (EIC), an English stock-trading company—formed for the exploitation of trade with East and Southeast Asia and India—was incorporated by royal charter on December 31, 1600. Starting as a monopolistic trading body, the company became involved in politics and acted as an agent of British imperialism in India from the early 18th century to the mid-19th century. In addition, the EIC's activities in China in the 19th century catalyzed the expansion of British influence there.

After Nepal lost the Anglo–Nepalese War of 1816, the British annexed the Terai region of the Gangetic Plain in India.

THE OPIUM WARS were two conflicts waged between China and the Western powers during the mid-19th century. The First OPIUM WAR was fought from 1839 to 1842 between China and Great Britain.

The authoritarian and hereditary-imposed Rana dynasty of NEPAL helped the British during the EAST INDIAN REBELLION of 1857 and both World Wars. In 1860, the British grafted parts of the Terai region to NEPAL as a thank-you for its military assistance.

THE FIRST BENGAL FAMINE (1876–77) in south and north India affected more than 50 million people... Close to 10.3 MILLION East Indians died.

In 1923, the British officially recognized NEPAL.

Most of the people of Nepal are of Indo-European ancestry with a Tibetan-Chinese-Nepali significant minority. Religions include; Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam in Nepal.

THE SECOND BENGAL FAMINE IN INDIA of 1943 was a man-made famine caused by the British during World War II.

The British East India Company (EIC) ruled the Indian subcontinent until 1858… The British Crown took over the Indian subcontinent in 1858 and ruled until the Partition of India in 1947.

The Partition of India in 1947 dissolved the British Crown rule aka British Raj rule in the Indian subcontinent and created two independent dominions in South Asia: India and Pakistan.

On December 14, 1951, the last Nepal maharaja and PM, Mohan Shumsher Jang Bahadur Rana, was deposed and went into exile in India, and died in Bangalore in 1967, aged 81.

CURRY POWDER AND OTHER DISHES WERE CREATED BY THE BRITISH

British Crown rule in India led to the development of Anglo-Indian cuisine, which introduced CURRY POWDER, curry, chutney, kedgeree, mulligatawny, and pish pash to English tastes. The British preference for these flavors influenced these dishes.

English colonel Arthur Robert Kenney-Herbert, writing as "Wyvern" in 1885, documented Anglo-Indian cuisine in detail to advise the British Raj's married upper-class white women on what to have their Indian indentured servants cook.

*** NOTE: America is A MELTING POT that continues to be for ALL people—especially my Sicilian Italian relatives and immigrants like my CREOLE maternal great-grandparents who moved from BRITISH BARBADOS to ENGLAND, my maternal grandfather, who was born in England but jumped ship and came to AMERICA, my late Creole paternal grandparents, and Creole late mom and dad.

Many recipes for making Asian, Caribbean, and Indian curries contain the same ingredients.

JAMAICAN Jerk Sauce contains Asian-inspired ingredients like cilantro, soy sauce, green onions, ginger, garlic, and hot chili peppers from South Asia.
