The UN's climate science body has released a major report on the climate, specifically aimed at ways to curb greenhouse gas emissions to avoid the worst-case warming scenario.

The international panel on climate change is insisting that all countries must reduce their fossil fuel use substantially. Unless action is taken soon, some major cities will be under water, according to UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

He says this would lead to "unprecedented heatwaves, terrifying storms, widespread water shortages and the extinction of a million species of plants and animals."

FOX 10's John Hook talks to Steven Koonin, a theoretical physicist at New York University and author of "Unsettled: What climate science tells us, what it doesn't, and why it matters." Koonin has been a physics professor at Caltech and got his Ph.D. from M.I.T. And for two years, he was President Obama's point person for climate change.
