あの素晴しい愛をもう一度 was used as the theme song for Hideaki Anno's 1998 live-action debut film "Love & Pop". The version in the film was performed by its lead actress Asumi Miwa.

"Love & Pop" is an avant-garde film based on a novel by Ryū Murakami titled "Love & Pop: Topaz II" (ラブ&ポップ トパーズII). It was Hideaki Anno's first venture into live-action and the first project he worked on upon completing Neon Genesis Evangelion.
The main character, a 16-year-old highschool girl named Hiromi, goes on subsidized dates (enjo kōsai/ 援助交際) in order to purchase a ring she adores. Her parents do not pay much attention to her and Hiromi often hangs out with her three closest friends who have been going on subsidized dates. Hiromi follows her friends and begins doing the same.

Although they appear to not have much in common, Love & Pop and Neon Genesis Evangelion are very similar works in the way the deal with themes like loneliness and self-worth.
