When Roads Fail, MatterNet Delivers

Silicon Valley-based Newco Matternet is rethinking how products get to market – literally. An innovator in a sector made famous by Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Matternet has been working on drone-based delivery networks for more than five years. And unlike Amazon, which wants to drop consumer goods on the doorsteps of consumers everywhere, Matternet is focusing on a purpose-driven use case: the roadless wilds of Africa where vaccine preventable diseases kill 2.4 million children annually and leave millions more severely impaired. After all, “there’s more than 1 billion people in the world who don’t have access to all season roads,” according to Andreas Raptopoulos, Matternet’s Founder, CEO, and “Airborne logistics activist.” Matternet’s first stop? The delivery of medicine in remote areas. Under Andreas’s vision, Matternet will make a difference, saving lives while simultaneously pushing the envelope on drone technology. Delivering consumer goods in cities? That’ll come. But first, focus on true impact, Andreas says. Get more detail on our site at http://blog.newco.co/2015/10/15/when-...
