REICAL: Renewable Energy Investment Calculator
REICAL is a Windows-based application developed for investment feasibility analysis of various types of renewable energy (RE) systems, such us: solar energy, wind energy, hydro energy, tidal energy, geothermal energy, biomass energy, etc.
REICAL can be used to analyse wide range of RE systems from small-scale off-grid/on-grid residential energy systems up to utility scale power plants.
Furthermore, REICAL can be used to analyse the economic feasibility of conventional energy systems that use fossil fuel (oil or gas). It also can be implicitly used to analyse the feasibility of other types of investments.
REICAL considers a wide range of explicitly defined technical, financial, and administrative parameters, in particular, it considers 22 explicitly defined parameters. These parameters includes: capital expenditures (CAPEX), operating expenditures (OPEX), financial expenditures (FINEX), administration expenditures (ADMINEX), and the amount of energy production.
REICAL calculates twenty-five technical and financial parameters including the main five investment feasibility indices, which include: Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Return of Rate (IRR), Return on Investment (RoI), Profitability Index (PI), Payback Period (PP).
REICAL enables investors to investigate different debt financing (loan) scenarios, e.g., equity and debt percentages, loan duration, interest rate, loan model (e.g., fixed instalment or principal), loan compound and payment plans (e.g., monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual, etc.). The loan results are presents in tables and graphs. So that, stakeholders may then select the most suitable financing scenario for their capital investment. Analysing the performance of the investment thoroughly enables investors to make well-grounded investment decisions.
