According to the latest assessment from the Pentagon’s Director of Operational Test and Evaluation, the KC 46 continues to struggle with mission readiness and reliability. In particular, several critical system flaws remain unresolved, further delaying the program’s overall progress.
The Pentagon’s 20 24 annual report from the Office of the Director of Operational Test and Evaluation reveals that “the KC 46A did not meet many operational suitability benchmarks.” While the aircraft is expected to achieve a minimum of 80% availability and 90% mission capability, real-world figures have shown a concerning downward trend throughout 20 24.
