PITCHING MYSELF AS YOUR NEXT ROOMMATE, HOUSEMATE OR TENANT (May 31, 2025)

My name is Juanito Majo John Madden and I am looking for housing in Asheville for the next several months.

My finances are tight and an apartment by myself in Asheville will probably be tough to afford.

I prefer a roommate or cohousing situation, but renting a room in your house or coach house could also work. Or a modestly priced studio apartment.

I think I'm a hell of a good guy and wildly interesting - but also capable of keeping a low profile if that's what your household needs.

When I post this on Facebook, I will invite my friends to give testimonials.

I'm 78 and was in extraordinarily good health until 3 months ago. I'm now dealing with urinary problems related to an enlarged prostate - possibly cancerous.

This new state hit me like a ton of bricks three months ago and on May 2 I was medivaced out of Mexico (where I had lived very happily for 2 years) back here to Asheville, where I lived from 2004 to 2020 - and where there is better medical care available with my Medicare than I could afford in my part of Mexico.

I have spent most of the last month in either Mission Hospital or The Laurels Rehab Center, from which I will be discharged sometime in the next few days.

Everybody in this center is encouraged to use walkers or wheelchairs for safety, but I walk quite well on my own. I spent several hours today walking errands around Asheville.

But I am facing the possibility of surgery for prostate and/or kidney cancer - and probably should not live where I need to do stairs.
