Описание к видео UV Sterlizier Germicidal Light - Sterilizing Items Received From Shipping

A brief video on using UV "Germicidal" lamps to sterilize items received in a shipment.
Note: I typed this up & made my computer do the 'talking' (that's why it sounds robot-ish)
--see full description below--

Basic text if you can't understand the robot-voice:

Part 1:
In this video, I am going to sterilize some items recivied in a shipment, using UV light. Rather than bringing the box inside and opening it there, it was brought straight out to the back deck (done to keep anything out of the house).
I opened both the shipping box, and the internal item boxes off camera to save time. (The items shown are power-heads, basically small water pumps for aquarium filters. You wouldn't want to use soaps or harsh chemicals to clean these, because residue left on them would harm fish in the aquarium!)

I will be sterilizing them, using a UV germicidal light. I had already put together the 'test board' shown, it has with 4x 8-watt bulbs. This is electrically the same thing as a fluorescent light, it uses the exact same ballast and sockets (you could infact place the germicidal bulbs in a standard fluorescent fixture).
The difference is in the bulbs themselves, first thing you'll notice is they are transparent. They contain no phosphor (the coating that makes a normal fluorescent white) they are also made of special (quartz) glass that lets UV through.
I'm don't show it turned on, because the UV light it puts out is dangerous to your eyes and skin (warning shown exactly as it appears on the bulb).

All items were placed on a table, the light set on boards to prop it above the items, and placed another board infront of everything (to block out the light, which as previously stated is dangerous.)
Note: Yes its a piece of wood, with the ballast & wires just out ontop...but at some point in the future, I can build a proper fixture out of sheetmetal.

Be aware: after handling the boxes and items, you should wash your hands before going any farther.
I let the light run for 20 minutes, unplugged it, turned all items over, then let it run for another 20 minutes.

Part 2:
If looking online, you may very well come across false or incorrectly labeled listings for bulbs stated to be "UV sterilizer" or "germicidal". (I did myself with a quick look).
I show a some different types in this part (a few of these I came across in my own quick search).

#1 & #2 are "BLB" "BlackLight-Blue" - They're for decorative or special-effect use.
#3 is a "BL" standard "BlackLight" - Generally used in bug-zappers, or for industrial use such as curing varnish.
#4 & #5 are "Actinic-03" - Used for aquariums (in particular for marine invertebrates that need deep blue/UV light).
#6 is a tanning bulb - Just as the name implies, these are used in tanning salons.
While all of these do put out some form of UV, its NOT the right spectrum, NONE of them are germicidal bulbs, regardless of what the listing says. All germicidal fluorescents will be transparent (but not all transparent fluorescents are germicidal)

And last are UV LEDs. you may see them individually like this, or built into some sort of fixture. Again they're not germicidal lights.
