The job hazard assessment and applying risk controls in your safety program explained!

Job hazard assessments or risk assessments if done right can improve the interoperability between different elements such as using risk assessments to prioritize corrective actions after in incident investigations.

Once the intial hazard assessment has ben completed and the overall risk has been calculated it is necessary to control or treat that risk by applying hazard controls or as some might call them risk controls. There are of course many different processes out there regarding the application of risk controls. In this hazard assessment training occupational health and safety training, hazard assessment training video I am going provide the viewer with the method I used to quantify the controls, apply the controls to the hazard and risk assessment with the result of a calculated and quantified final risk result.

Hazard assessments need to drive your safety program! If hazards are identified, analyzed for severity and risks are calculated with consideration to the frequency the associated tasks are performed appropriate controls can be put in place. Having controls with significantly reduce the probability of these incidents occurring which will promote health and safety at the workplace by reducing, hopefully eliminating, worker injury, asset damage and or environmental impacts.


*Risk Defined*

Risk is the chance or probability of the manifestation of a consequence after the exposure to or the interaction with a hazard.
