Brief Biography of Sheikh AbdulAzeem AlAfifi (Grand Mufti of Australia) and at this sad moment an important reminder to all of us from the Quran

Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“but give glad tidings to As‑ Saabiroon (the patient).

156. Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: ‘Truly, to Allaah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return.’

157. They are those on whom are the Salawaat (i.e. who are blessed and will be forgiven) from their Lord, and (they are those who) receive His Mercy, and it is they who are the guided ones”

[al-Baqarah 2:155-157]

Brief Biography:

Sheikh was 48 years old, he comes from Egyptian background and served most of his life learning the Deen of Allah swt.

He did his bachelors and Masters in Islamic studies from AlAzhar University, Cairo (Egypt). He further did Phd in the field of Uloom ul Quran (Sciences of Quran)

He has been serving the Australian Muslim community for last 20 years. He has been delivering his services at AlTaqwa College and Mosque located in the western suburbs of Melbourne.

He assisted in marriage counselling, youth issues and conflict resolution. He was so caring for the community and mindful of his responsibilities that until he was taken to his death bed, he continued to lead Salah, deliver sermons, attend meetings, in short he continued serving the community to the best of his ability.....

He worked hard to unite Muslims if Australia and he stood as a wall to safeguard the youth of the community. Today it is, as if we have lost a fatherly figure.

He was instrumental in establishing 'Australian National Imams Council' - peak Islamic body and served two terms as President. He was then elected as the Grand a Mufti of Australia earlier this year in March 2018.

He showed extra ordinary resilience and utmost patience while battling with cancer.

Request:
Oh Muslims of Australia, we owe our Sheikh our Prayers and Dua. I urge everyone to remember him by making Dua for him in our Salah and in our sujood requesting Allah swt to bestow His Mercy on him.

We pray that ALLAH swt grants him highest levels of Jannah and enters him into Jannatul Firdous and raise him in the company of our beloved Prophet Mohammed (saws).
