A group of the elders of the Bugisu Cooperative Union is demanding for 4.6 billion shillings as compensation from the government, which had promised to pay the money last year. This was in relation to losses the union suffered when the government suspended the BCU board. The elders revealed that President Museveni had paid them 4.6 billion earlier this year and promised that the remainder would be remitted but there is no response from the government. The chairperson of BCU’s elders’ forum Polly Mugoya said they met the President last week to discuss the payment.
