Kala Chala Tikki

You can make chat out of them, have them as a snack on their own, or fill them inside a burger or a wrap for a satisfying meal. One healthy recipe, multiple delicious ways to enjoy it! 😋

Ingredients :
1 cup soaked Black Chick Pea (Kala Chana)
1 medium boiled Potato
2 finely chopped Green Chillies
1 small finely chopped Ginger Knob
Finely chopped Coriander Leaves
1 medium size finely chopped Onion (optional)
Red Chilli Powder (as per taste)
1 tsp Coriander Powder (Dhaniya Powder)
1/2 tsp Garam Masala
1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
Salt as per taste
1.5 tbs Breadcrumbs (alternatively rice flour can be used)
Oil (for frying)
For serving : Curd, Tikhi Chutney, Mithi Chutney, Sev and Pomegranate Seeds

Method :
To make Tikki:-
Soak 1 cup Kala Chana overnight
Pressure cook on medium heat up to 5-6 whistles
Coarsely mash boiled chana
Add 1 medium boiled Potato
Add 2 finely chopped Green Chillies
Add 1 small finely chopped Ginger Knob
Add finely chopped Coriander Leaves
Add 1 medium size finely chopped Onion (optional)
Add Red Chilli Powder (as per taste)
Add 1 tsp Coriander Powder (Dhaniya Powder)
Add 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
Add 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
Add Salt as per taste
Add 1.5 tbs Breadcrumbs
Combine everything well together
Make round tikkis from this mixture
Heat Oil in a pan
Place all tikkis on it
Flip and cook all tikkis from both the sides until golden-brown
(Serve them as it is with green chutney) or
Place tikkis on a serving plate
Add Beaten Curd, Tikhi Chutney, Mithi Chutney, Sev and Pomegranate Seeds
Sprinkle a little Masala
(To make masala, dry roast 2 tbs Whole Coriander, 1 tbs Cumin Seeds, 10-12 Peppercorns, 4-5 Whole Dry Kashmiri Red Chillies
Turn off the heat & add a pinch of Asafoetida, Black Salt, Regular Salt & coarsely grind this mixture)
