SRU’s Giving Day is today! Giving Day is SRU's Annual Fundraising Day which is taking place today, Friday, March 21st, and is facilitated by SRU's Office for University Advancement. Every department and/or program at SRU has an opportunity to participate in Giving Day.

We are fundraising to enhance our sustainability education programming and projects as well as to support research initiatives that promote a more just and sustainable future. Your support enables us to create connections with the campus and local community through innovative, sustainable programming and practices while teaching those around us to be good stewards of our natural resources.

More specifically, your funds could be used for educational supplies and student educators to facilitate our summer camp programming for children ages 4 to 9 years old. They could also be used to help support our sliding scale pricing model for summer camp registration. These hands-on summer camp programs provide transformational experiences not only for the summer camp participants but also for the SRU students involved in their implementation. They also prepare lifelong learners by fostering curiosity and utilizing inquiry-based learning.

They could also be used for facility upgrades that demonstrate energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies that can be used for hands-on, student-centered learning and research opportunities. More specifically, they could be used for renovating our greenhouse to demonstrate a compost heat exchanger or to build an off-grid, solar-powered honeybee lab designed by senior mechanical and civil engineering students.

Finally, they could be used for sending MC student staff to professional development opportunities and conferences.
