Confession to Murder (Part 1):

This documentary, made by Someone Knows Something host David Ridgen, aired on The National on CBC television in 2012. It explores the case of 15-year-old Christine Harron from Hanover, Ontario. She was a quiet rebel, who loved books, children, and the outdoors. On May 18, 1993, she left her house to go to school and was never seen again. For years, police investigations came up empty. More than 10 years after her disappearance, local man Edward Ringel confesses to Christine's murder. But before the case can go to trial, it falls apart due to police error. Confession to Murder Part I tells the shocking story for the first time of how investigative errors led to the case’s collapse, and how family members make a dramatic bid for answers from the man who confessed. Ridgen’s interview with suspect Anthony Ringel in Confession to Murder Part I represents the first and only time that Ringel has ever been interviewed by anyone in the media concerning the case. This and the rest of the case, much of which has never been broadcast before, is explored in depth and revealed in season 9 of Someone Knows Something, released in November 2024.
