Former president Thabo Mbeki says the quality of a member of the ANC
has been on a decline for a long time.

Mbeki says the late Nelson Mandela raised some of these concerns
during the 1997 elective conference in Mafikeng, North West.

He says there are many people both in the ANC and government calling
themselves ANC members, but act indirectly to the party's values.
