After months of building in all weather — storms, floods, mud and long days — our mushroom lab and incubation room are finally taking shape. In this episode we focus on finishing the lab interior, getting it ready for the next big step: mushroom production.

Spring brings a fresh start here In the Stix, and we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to get these two spaces cleaned, painted, wired and prepared. Today we take you through that final push: installing the ceiling lights, cleaning every surface, painting the incubation room, deep-cleaning the floors, and finally assembling and washing the shelving that will hold our mushroom supplies.

This has been a huge project for us — two shipping containers slowly transformed into a working mushroom facility. The main power system in the utility room is still being built, but inside the lab the wiring, layout and structure are now complete. It’s been a long road, but standing inside a clean, bright lab for the first time feels like a milestone worth sharing.

If you're new here, we’re building a small-scale mushroom farm from scratch in the countryside using recycled materials, off-grid thinking, and a lot of determination.
