The Hippie Trail was a rite of passage for thousands of adventurers travelling overland through Asia and the Middle East in the Sixties and Seventies.
This video records the people and places as we travelled through Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Israel, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Nepal, capturing the cultures and history carved by trade, religion and war over thousands of years.
Some of the countries we travelled through in 1976 are currently too dangerous for tourists, and some of the world heritage listed sites we visited have since been damaged or destroyed despite, or because of, their historical significance.
