BEACH FASHION IN RIO
Rio Fashion week continued unveiling the key looks for Spring/Summer 2008 in Brazil, with beach fashion dominating the catwalk.
Alongside the shows in 'Fashion Rio,' was the trade show 'Fashion Business,' where local and international businessmen can buy clothes shown for their stores.
This season's Fashion Business was the most successful ever with International trade reaching $13,2 million (US dollars).
Jeronimo Vargas, one of the organisers, told AP Entertainment, "The mix between the catwalk shows with business has been consolidated. It's very successful. Having the catwalk shows near the places where people can order those clothes that appear on the show has been a successful story."
Back on the catwalk came the much anticipated collection from Luiza Bonadiman. The 25-year-old designer brought her third Fashion Rio show to the catwalk, titled Fashion Beach.
"The theme of this collection is rain," revealed Donadiman. "What rain brings us, what we feel when it rains. It is my will to use the image of the rain.On this theme, we made these impressions, the colours and the clothes."
Technological fabrics like jersey, nylon and neoprene were made to appear wet. Colours were vibrant lemons and pinks with contrasting neutral shades like graphite.
Also showing on Thursday, the Sandpiper collection was a vision of simple prints. The show began with a blue voile tuxedo with a leaf-stamped t-shirt and went on to feature short wide legged shorts and plenty of the label's trademark dresses.
