Thank you for stopping by to watch our 2012 Toyota Prius side view mirror removal & install video. You can go wrong with a Prius, or just any car build by Toyota. They are built to last but like any car, you gotta show it some love. Most of the vehicles we work on are customer cars that need a replacement part. You may be able to see that we were working on the front bumper of this car. There is nothing wrong with this side view mirror but we thought it would be helpful for anyone looking to replace this mirror. It's a very simple job, so hopefully, you can save money with our mirror, or at least save money on the labor.

TOOLS NEEDED:
You will need a 10mm wrench or socket wrench for the bolts. You will also need a Philp's screwdriver and a panel removal tool. If you do not have the panel tool, you can use a flat-head screwdriver, but be sure not to damage the plastic door panel.

PROCESS:
Super-duper easy is what comes into mind for this side view mirror replacement. This mirror is not directly behind the door panel, but like most mirrors, it has an interior cover. Pop the cover off to expose the bolts. You will see that bolts are easy enough to remove but the cord is behind the door panel. Part of this process is removing the Toyota Prius door panel. There are only 2 bolts that hold this in; one behind the door handle and the other in the armrest. Very easy, no-hassle so far. To pull the door panel, start at the bottom and pull it out. Work your way to the sides of the door panel and push the door panel up near the glass window. There is a black panel that is holding the side view mirror panel inside the door. Remove the screw to access the side view mirror cable. You can now replace your mirror and disconnect the cable. When you install your new mirror, be sure to check the functionality of the mirror. You would not want to secure all the panels to find out the mirror was faulty and needs to be removed. The rest should be a breeze since you already know what you're doing!
