The Vertex Effects Ultraphonix is based off of the tone of the legendary Dumble Overdrive Special. It has a smooth overdrive characteristic and some well-thought-out features derived from the ludicrously priced amp.

It may have knocked my other drive pedals off their spot! It does everything I want from an overdrive pedal - smooth, transparent, flexible and touch responsive. Just like the amp it’s modeled after!

It does not fully replicate the "feel" of the amp, but that's more a limitation of the stompbox format. There's no overdrive pedal that feels exactly like a tube amp. IMO, nothing but a real tube amp does!
