Intro: Deconstructing Self-Negating Nonduality w/ Tim Freke

We reflect on our history together & how our work overlaps, leading to a new series where Tim and I will constructively deconstructing some of the core teachings, the metaphysical/ontology within self & world-negating (or trivializing!), non-dual paradigms, including beliefs like "You are not a person," "There is no doer," “The world is merely a projection arising in consciousness” while offering alternate humanistic perspectives, because we've found these to be both de-humanizing for many folks/harmful, such that I’d like to challenge the notion of “no self, no suffering,” as well as philosophically mis-guided, at the least imbalanced and partial, despite having both at one point been convinced of their truth through our own experience. We believe these non-dual "pointers" lead to real, and dramatically altered ways of perceiving, but that they do not reveal something called "ultimate truth" and as we'll describe, the implications of this are far-reaching! Folks who find themselves stuck in these ways of perceiving and wanting to shift into experiencing reality in other ways, have benefited greatly from dissolving the constraints of non-dual authoritarian "ultimate truths" (which can lead to guilt and shame around "turning your back on The Truth) that make it immensely challenging to gain back experiential freedom & freedom of thought - to openly reflect on our current beliefs in service of exploring what can be healthier, more balanced and humanistic ways to understand, and thus experience the nature of self & reality! So we hope that these constructive de-constructions and alternate perspectives offered will be helpful for some folks.
