• Provide information, guidance and support to those seeking employment, training or career counselling,
• Register those seeking employment on an up-to-date list of current jobseekers, monitor their search for employment.
• Pay benefits on behalf of the management body of the unemployment insurance scheme (Unédic) and the State;
• Gather, process, disseminate and provide job market and unemployment benefit data.
Pôle emploi has a network of more than 900 local agencies, including 141 specific service offices and more than 73 service platforms.

The Handipass agency
Handipass agencies support people registered as "disabled workers".
This type of agency has all the services of a standard Pôle emploi agency, as well as a medical-social centre. Interpreters for the deaf or hard of hearing are on hand to facilitate registration and access to interviews with agency advisers. Handipass agencies also help people wishing to set up their own business, offering guidance and directing them towards the relevant structures.

Managerial and Executive Agencies
Pôle emploi Managerial and Executive agencies support people who have paid into the managerial and executive retirement fund, AGIRC (Association générale des institutions de retraite des cadres). These job seekers must have carried out their responsibilities either by delegation or as company heads.
