Today is the Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time. In the Gospel, we will hear Jesus summoning his twelve disciples to send them with authority over unclean spirits.
These “apostles” or the ones sent were instructed to “travel light.” They were to rely on the generosity and hospitality of the people and the community they would encounter.
This mirrors the way Jesus carried out his ministry, which should be continued by the apostles and all Christians.
Faith would spread through the simplicity and freedom of its messengers and the help of the community. Thank you Jesus for showing the way!
