大手町駅は、皇居前・大手門近くの東京・丸の内のオフィス街です。戦後地下鉄が整備されオフィスして大きく発展してきました。金融機関の本店や新聞社大手企業の本社が多数あります。大手町駅は東京駅にほど近いのですが、地下道でつながっているだけで、大手町は地下鉄専用の乗換駅となっています。

最近は単なる乗り換え駅から、付近のビルの再開発とあわせて整備され、商業施設となり、買い物ができたり、食事ができる飲食店が立ち並ぶようになりました。昭和の面影が残る駅構内も新しく生まれ変わりました。
