Go karts are designed to go fast and one way to improve lap times is by driving on a grippier, softer compound tyre.

But there's an art to driving on a soft tyre, the additional grip means you might not need to brake as aggressively, smoother steering inputs, and release grip from the chassis to enable the tyres to perform to their optimum.

I still believe there's a benefit from learning to drive on a hard compound tyre to learn kart control, understeer and driving on the opening few laps when the kart doesn't have much grip yet.

We see far less karts spinning out when mistakes are made so this can be contributed to the fact our tyres have so much lateral grip now.
