Unlike our teeth, a rabbit’s teeth continuously grow throughout its life. This can lead to overgrown teeth if the teeth are not worn down properly.

The underlying cause of overgrown teeth can vary - it may be due to poor diet, trauma, or even poor genetics, which is the cause of this 1 year old rabbit, who had mal-aligned teeth from the start.

Not all dental disease is this obvious- sometimes the front teeth are ok, but the back, or cheek teeth, are overgrown.
Signs that your rabbit may have dental disease include weight loss, difficulty eating, changes in feces, drooling or wetness around the chin, and facial masses or swellings.
