Southwest China includes Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Guangxi provinces and Chongqing municipality. It had long been the Wild, Wild West of China dated back to 221 BC, and people who lived here had long been called as Xinan Yi , literally, southwestern foreigners or barbarians.

The faraway distance to China central inland and the complicated geographic conditions made this mountain-locked corner a remote, underdeveloped region and even nowadays, a less-developed region in China, in the meantime, created a variety of spectacular landscapes and rich, colorful, unique ethnic histories and cultures.

Along the long river of history, traces of the ancient Southern Silk Road & Tea-horse Caravan Road have been disappearing in high mountains and deep valleys, while the Burma Road built in WWII still serves the people...Great changes happened and happens everyday in Southwest China, there is already so much being explored, and still, so much waiting to be explored...
