Such anomalies were quite common here, and no one was particularly surprised by this. Our entire group of 12 people settled into a hotel near the forest, on the outskirts of Bickenville. The hotel was old but very clean, comfortable, and cozy. Each member of the group was accommodated in a separate room, including myself. I really liked the room; everything was made of wood, beautiful furniture, a large fireplace, and a panoramic window across the entire wall. From the window, there was a beautiful view of the forest and the village. The day we arrived, it started to snow, so our research and stargazing had to be postponed until the weather improved. Each member of the expedition could do whatever they wanted: walk around, relax, or simply sit in the room and read books. I chose the latter, lit the fire, grabbed a stack of books from the local library, and enjoyed this wonderful moment. I never imagined that on my first day in Bouquenville, I would encounter an anomaly that I would remember for the rest of my life. I was sitting in an armchair by the fireplace, reading a book, when the telephone suddenly rang. It was near the bed, and I didn't notice it immediately. Picking up the phone, I heard, "Hello! Is this Mr. Henderson?" "Yes," I replied. The caller continued, "Mr. Henderson, please have a seat." Perhaps what I'm about to tell you will surprise you, but I want to assure you beforehand not to worry; such events are the norm in Boukenville. Mr. Henderson, my name is Bill,I'm the receptionist at the hotel where you stayed, and I'm calling from 1976. A guest at our hotel found your wallet in their room, which had fallen behind the nightstand. I checked the database and saw that you stayed with us in December 1972. I decided to call and ask you not to forget to pick up your wallet when you check out of the hotel. The first thing I did was laugh, and then I said, "Thanks, Bill, but I think you need to sleep." After that, I hung up. I didn't immediately understand what the problem was, then I reconsidered the phone conversation and went to see if there was a wallet in my coat pocket. To my surprise, it wasn't. I laughed again and went over to the nightstand, nudging it a little, and saw my wallet. When I picked it up, I couldn't believe what had just happened.
