XFX RX 590 Fatboy Tear-Down & Design Critique

We critique an AMD RX 590 by XFX, the 'Fatboy,' and discuss odd thermal design choices for the new RX 590 GPU. The GPU performance will be tested later.

The XFX "Fatboy" is a dual-fan solution for the AMD RX 590, using a revamped Polaris piece of silicon. It's the RX 580 refreshed, which is the RX 480 refreshed. The RX 590 is functionally a pre-overclocked RX 580, but maintains lower voltages at a given clock than its two predecessors. We will shortly be benchmarking the RX 590 and reviewing it on the channel.
