Dog Zoomies are always an exciting experience to witness when your fuzzy ball of fur bounces around the room or yard like they have just been shot out of a cannon or a pinball machine.

The Zoomies also known as “Frenetic Random activity periods” or FRAPs most likely occur for the same reasons we get bursts of energy or excitement. In humans FRAPs also happen from being happy or experiencing a burst of excitement due to something good happening in our life, like your sister having a baby or a promotion at work.

For doggos the Zoomies normally last about 5 minutes and 10 minutes if they are in good spirits.
Canine behaviorists think that the dog Zoomies, consisting of silly, entertaining, and occasionally destructive behavior, is a way of releasing pent-up energy when they’re feeling happy or excited.

And after a bath it can be a way of releasing heat to help warm them up while they’re also enjoying feeling clean. Zoomies also seem to occur early in the morning and evenings, when experts think this has to do with the hunting cycles of their ancestors, who found sleepy eyed and groggy prey easier marks for their meals.
So, Is it a good thing that your dog has the Zoomies?
YES! Dog zoomies is a great sign that your dog is feeling energetic, relaxed, and happy. As your dog ages however they may zoom less due to stiffness or any ailments that slow them down. Larger breed dogs and not-so athletic breeds such as the bulldog may also do less Zooming.

But when your older dog does Zoom it puts a smile on our face and reminds us of their reckless puppy years!
