Expertly designed for optimised solid/liquid separation, Multotec is a world specialist supplying the Conturbex screen scroll centrifuge. This state-of-the-art centrifuge “scrolled” (or wormed) design is based on 60 years of centrifugal design experience from Siebtechnik. Double pulley drive arrangement optimises residence time. It reduces product moisture and increases product capacity while the drum pulley rotates the screen and the excentre pulley rotates the scroll. The overhung bearing design allows the dewatering of products at high temperatures and enables easy access during maintenance. The open labyrinth and vapour- and gas-tight seal arrangements control dangerous vapours and gasses. The design is explosion-proof. The unique construction of the screen scroll centrifuge inlet turns in the same direction as the screen drum, but at a small differential speed. This ensures a uniformed acceleration of the solids and eliminates imbalances in dewatering applications. The screen scroll centrifuge consumes low energy during feed distribution at the acceleration cone, and fluctuating feed conditions can be easily absorbed. The thin layer of solids on the basket ensures optimum dewatering and even distribution of feed onto the rotating drum / wedge wire screen. Sticky solids are discharged easily with the race track design. Product washing improves product quality and water recovery. This reduces operational and transport costs. The screen scroll centrifuge allows the removal of fine impurities via a displacement wash through the thinning solids layer near the discharge end of the basket. The degassing cyclone removes harmful toxins and flammable gasses in chemical applications and ensures pressure equilibrium in the wet and dry sections of the housing. The transport screen scroll also acts as a control mechanism by regulating the solids’ sliding speed and retention time. Vibration isolation of the bearing housing from the structural steel support is conducted with rubber buffers. These eliminate 95% of all dynamic loads which would be transmitted to the support structure. There are 2 screen options. Segmented wedge wire screens are for high wear mining applications. Conidur screens are for low wear chemical applications. Wear protection extends life on the scroll. Choose from Tungsten, Ceramic or Stellite. Different screen scroll centrifuge models are available for a wide range of process applications. Custom-designed machines are constructed with different materials – carbon steel, austenitic steel, Hastelloy, or titanium.
