ดวงจันทร์ น่าจะเป็นสิ่งที่อยู่คู่กับโลก มาตั้งแต่โลกของเราถือกำเนิดขึ้นมา ทุกสังคมทุกวัฒนธรรมตั้งแต่โบราณกาล จะมีตำนานเกี่ยวกับดวงจันทร์

ขนาดการวัดเวลาแต่ละวัน ยังใช้ดวงจันทร์เป็นหลักเลย พวกข้างขึ้นข้างแรม ซึ่งมันก็กลายเป็นตัวกำหนดหน่วยเวลาที่เรียกว่าเดือน ซึ่งเกิดจากการนับรอบที่ดวงจันทร์จะวนกลับมาเต็มดวงอีกครั้ง ที่ใช้เวลาประมาณ 30 วัน มันเลยทำให้ หลายๆ วัฒนธรรมทั่วโลก จะมีหน่วยนับเวลาประมาณสามสิบวันใกล้เคียงกัน

ไม่ต้องสงสัยเลยว่ามนุษย์สนใจและให้ความสำคัญกับดวงจันทร์เป็นอย่างมาก
แล้วแน่นอนว่า พวกเราเผ่าพันธุ์ที่ขี้สงสัยที่สุดในโลกอย่างโฮโมเซเปี้ยน ก็ต้องพยายามค้นหาคำตอบว่า ดวงจันทร์เกิดขึ้นมาได้ยังไง

มันมีตำนาน และความเชื่อมากมายที่บอกถึงจุดกำเนิดของดวงจันทร์ แต่คลิปนี้ผมจะมาพูดถึงสมมุติฐานการกำเนิดดวงจันทร์ที่อิงพื้นฐานจากกระบวณการทางวิทยาศาสตร์นะครับ

สมมุติฐานที่ถูกเสนอขึ้นมาก็อย่างเช่น Fission Hypothesis , Capture Hypothesis และ Condensation Hypothesis


แต่หลังจาก โครงการ Apollo นักวิทยาศาสตร์ก็ได้ตัวอย่างหินดวงจันทร์ และได้เรียนรู้ข้อมูลใหม่ๆเกี่ยวกับคุณสมบัติของดวงจันทร์เพิ่มอีกมากมาย
นักวิจัยจากหลากหลายมหาลัยทั่วโลก ได้ทำการศึกษาสมบัติของหินดวงจันทร์ มาตลอด 50 ปีที่ผ่านมา

และผลงานวิจัยเหล่านั้น ก็ทำให้เกิดสมมุติฐานใหม่ขึ้นมา ที่เรียกว่า Giant-impact hypothesis ที่ดวงจันทร์เกิดการชนกันของโลกกับดาวเคราะห์ที่ชื่อว่า ธีอา
ซึ่งผลของแบบจำลองตามสมมุติฐานนี้ สอดคล้องและตอบคำถามหลายๆ อย่างที่เราเคยมีได้ มันเลยเป็นสมมุติฐานที่น่าเชื่อถือมากที่สุดในปัจจุบัน

และสมมุติฐานนี้มันเป็นยังไง Apollo ค้นพบอะไรบ้าง ที่เติมเต็มช่องว่างปริศนาการกำเนิดของดวงจันทร์ ไปติดตามกันครับ
