Driving around Kyiv in summer 🇺🇦2024: Discover the Rusanivka residential area. Ukraine

Our journey to Rusanivka on the left bank of the Dnipro River begins at Darnytska Square. Unlike many other districts of Kyiv, Rusanivka was not originally planned as a place for the concentration of industrial facilities. In line with the Soviet concept of "sleeping districts", Rusanivka was conceived exclusively as a residential area. When the neighbourhood was created, it was assumed that its residents would not need private cars. Rusanivka was planned to be served by two types of public transport: buses and river boats that would run along the Dnipro and the Rusanivskyi Canal. This idea was supposed to create a Venetian-like atmosphere in the neighbourhood.
Unfortunately, the ambitious plans for river transport proved to be uneconomical. After some time, the boat service was discontinued.
