Slim: Britains Greatest General

On April 21st, 2024, in front of a packed audience at the National Army Museum in London (over 1,000 people came through the National Army Museum during the ‘Kohima, 80th Anniversary’ weekend of commemorations) Dr Robert Lyman was able to reprise his effort to present, in 2011, Bill Slim as Britain’s Greatest General in a debate at the NAM. He tied with Peter Snow, who was presenting Wellington.

Rob discusses Field Marshal Bill Slim's command primarily of the great 14th Army in India and Burma between August 1943 (when in fact 14 Army was still Eastern Army) and the end of the war in Asia exactly two years later. Rob gives us ten reasons for suggesting that Slim was Britain’s greatest general.
