How to Make Beeswax Cakes for Hand Sewing

Today I am going to show you how to make some simple Beeswax cakes for your hand sewing kits, or to give away as gifts this season. I love how personal you can make these with unique shapes. If you let your imagination run wild, you can also use them as largess or stocking stuffers. Mine will be used as largess for my upcoming ceremony for the Order of the Laurel in the Society for Creative Anachronism. #mysca

To make these you will need:
Beeswax (chunks or granules)
Silicone molds
Bamboo Stick for stirring wax
Wide mouth, tall jar
Saucepan with water
Freezer

Once you melt the wax and reform it into the shapes you like tag me on Instagram to I can see your personalized beeswax cakes for hand sewing! Waxing your threads before you sew will protect them from abrasion as you put them through the fabric so the threads break and tangle less. A piece of beeswax is an essential tool for any hand sewing kit.

In my opinion these make for some great gifts. I'm hoping to give a few of these to some of my fellow costubers in the near future, but we will have to wait and see. At least these can't get stuck in the supply chain issues, and I always love thoughtful handmade gifts, don't you?
