Hi, it's Alicia! I'm a type 1 diabetic who was diagnosed in January 2021 at age 14. Today I wanted to tell my type 1 diabetes diagnosis story. This video wasn't easy to film and I wasn't even sure if I was going to upload it. As you will see I do get emotional (and I'm sorry I am such an ugly crier lol) I didn't expect this video to be as morbid or raw as it turned out to be but I think it's important for me to not hide how scary and emotional being diagnosed with T1D can be. If you've been diagnosed recently and happen to come across this video I hope this can bring you some sort of comfort, because I know when I was diagnosed I spent hours trying to find people I could relate to just to not feel so alone.
