Gateway Classic Cars of St. Louis is proud to present this fabulous 1960 Willy’s CJ-5 for sale in our St. Louis showroom. By the time the war was over there were over 640,000 Jeeps produced and with their utilitarian design and rugged durability it’s no wonder returning war heroes were clamoring to get their hands on the civilian models. Powered by the Hurricane 4 cylinder which was very similar in design to the original go devil 4 cylinder powering the military version, these little jeeps were notorious for being hard to kill. Ease of maintenance was a major selling point on the CJ5 seeing as most G.I.’s were familiar with repairing and maintaining a Jeep. This Jeep has had a Frame off restoration and the frame and parts were sandblasted and painted with industrial black paint. It is equipped with a 2 inch Pro-Comp springs and shocks lift, and 34x9.50x15 Super Swamper Tires. Under the hood the 2.2 Hurricane comes to life with ease and powers through the gears nicely. This Jeep is still equipped with the 3 speed manual transmission and Dana 44 rear end that has 5.38 gears. It’s very rare to find a very early model Willy’s that hasn’t been eaten alive by the elements. With that being said this CJ-5 has a mind blowing 15,465 original miles. When it was restored there was no expense spared and all the parts came from Kaiser Willy’s. If you are looking for a early Jeep and the one that started the legend look no farther cause this one will blow you away!
