Antique Classical Square Table Clock by Fritz Marti ~ Lions

~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~

A beautiful classical square gilt brass table clock. It features roundels to the sides with lions mask handles. Above the acanthus frieze is a domed top with incised foliate decoration and surmounted by a finial. It stands on scrolling claw feet and below the dial is a winged Reynolds angel. The clock is decorated in the round so would display perfectly on a table if desired.

The stunning dial is enamel on copper, the centre is enamelled in blue with a delicate brass fret overlaying it.

The French movement is of high quality and is by the renowned maker Fritz Marti. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a sonorous coiled gong. Click the video clip below to hear the gong and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition with no damage. We have renewed the red velvet in the back door.

We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employ two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements.
