About 66 million years ago, an asteroid hit Earth. This event is also a marker for the extinction of the dinosaurs at the end of the Cretaceous period.

But there are still unanswered questions from the mass extinction, namely when exactly the asteroid impact event occurred.

An international team of scientists conducted a series of studies to determine when the asteroid fell to Earth and caused the extinction of the dinosaurs. They found the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs hit Earth during the spring.

Citing Phys, Thursday (24/2/2022) researchers conducted the study by analyzing the remains of fish that died shortly after the asteroid impact. When an asteroid hits Earth, the collision shakes the continental plates and causes large waves in bodies of water, such as rivers and lakes.

The waves then moved large amounts of sediment that swallowed the fish and buried them alive.
