What is Decarboxylation?

THCA actually begins to naturally convert and change slowly into THC as the plant ages and dries over time. This natural process is called degradation. One way to speed up the process of this chemical change is to add heat. Adding heat to convert THCA to THC is called decarboxylation or more commonly known as “decarb” or “decarbing.” Smoking is a prime example of how people decarboxylate cannabis without even realizing it.
