466 pieces of luxury goods and 58 pieces of gold bars that were seized during the $3 billion (US$2.33 billion) money laundering case were handed over by the Singapore Police for liquidation on Tuesday (Aug 12).
Among the luxury goods were about 50 branded bags believed to be from Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Dior and Chanel. These included a Hermès Birkin 25 Togo bag with an estimated value of S$30,000, and a Hermès Kelly Alligator bag, which can cost between S$70,000 and S$120,000, according to online listings by brokers.
The money laundering case, which came to light following islandwide police raids in Aug 2023, involved millions of dollars earned over the years from an illicit gambling ring based in Southeast Asia. The offenders - nine men and one woman - hailed from China and had criminal backgrounds. All have been convicted and were deported after serving their sentences. #sinaanore #sanewsharyana
